My least favorite Keaggy album, but still a few bright spots. The survivor has some brilliant guitar solo work towards the end of the song. The song is about an aborted baby who survives which is all by itself a genius take, because the song is from the baby’s perspective. Powerful message showing how God can save anyone at any time. Also back in the day they had some tracks from this album available as performance tracks. I got to sing to “ only You” with PK in my local church!
Favorite track: The Survivor.

I’ve been following Phil since the 70s. I forgot how beautiful this album is. I just rediscovered it by becoming a subscriber. Best decision I’ve ever made. Now I get to listen and revisit many of the concerts I attended and those I couldn’t make for the first time. Also I had many albums on vinyl and cassette that were lost etc. One of the things I love about Phil, is how every time he does a song live, it’s different than his other versions. He keeps things fresh and exciting by doing this. Craig Opal

Vermillion Strands is a beautifully haunting song. The melody is strong with melancholy feeling and a lilting laid back rhythm. At first hearing the piece sounds simple but in reality there is much subtle variation here. The guitar phrasing is exquisite; acoustic guitar maintains the melody- creating a sense of space- while electric guitar and vocals interweave. The cumulative effect is one of yearning; the foretaste of heaven that CS Lewis identifies with encountering beauty on earth. Wonderful David Barnes
