about

1 Where The Morning Dawns:
This song was inspired by the writings of George McDonald that I had found on a particular day, in the devotional Streams in the Desert.
I composed the chords and adapted the words but gave a songwriting credit to Mike Radovsky because he was drumming on that song for me and I felt his presence in the studio helped inspire the song along.
I’ve placed this song as the first track to listen to on this new sequence because of its positive and bright message! James Hollihan also contributed to the song with the trumpets and strings.

2) Good Vibrations:
This recording came about around 2003, I believe. Tony Shore was creating a compilation album called Making God Smile featuring different artists and he asked me if I would consider doing Good Vibrations. So I went and tracked this song with Ken Lewis on drums and percussion – I played the guitars, bass and keys, and then invited my friend Gene Miller to sing all the vocals with me. This song has been a favorite of mine ever since I was in the 9th grade.

3) I Want You I Need You I Love You:
I was only five years old when my brother Dave came home with this Elvis Presley record -the flipside of the record was My baby left me and this was the A-side of that 45 RPM. I’ve always enjoyed Elvis’s records, especially from the 50s. I recorded the song in August 2007 which commemorated the 30th year of his passing. I recorded it in the style of an early British rock ‘n’ roll band.

4) What Matters Most:
My friend La Reau Anderson invited me to participate in a compilation that would celebrate the Scriptures through the international Bible society. I came up with this song knowing that the great message of the Bible is the love of God for mankind and that His love is what matters most.

5) She Sees Me:
Friend and drummer Jon Sexton came to my place one day and came up with this chord progression on the piano- he also played drums on this song. I wrote the words about Bernadette who knows me through and through and has always stood by my side through all these many years of love and marriage.

6) My Auburn Lady:
Another song I wrote for Bernadette. This song is in an alternate tuning (DBDF#AE) and I consider it to be one of my favorite songs that I’ve written for her.

7) Where Are You Love:
I wrote this little gem with daughter Olivia one day when she came to visit. It’s just a sweet little song, maybe a little sad, but pretty. It’s just one guitar and our two voices singing together. I love the purity in her voice. By the way, she and her dear husband are expecting their 1st child ~our first grandchild this year!

8) Between Wyomings:
My good friend Ken Mansfield wrote this song and sent me a simple demo with him singing it a cappella. I came up with the arrangement and my two daughters sang BGV’s for me on it. Ken has a book of the same title. He’s written some really great books about his life and experiences in the music business.

9) Somedays:
When Paul McCartney‘s album Flaming Pie came out, Bernadette took notice of this particular song and liked it very much and asked if I would learn it. So I recorded it and this was the result. I feel it’s a very honest and tender song.

10) Grow With Me:
Guitarist Michael Lewis from Washington state came to visit one day and brought his guitar. He was keen on me trying it out and the result of that meeting was this tune. This was the song that was a lot of fun to play with the Glass Harp when we did some dates during that time.

11) Voices in the Sky:
When I was in high school I was a Moody Blues fan and bought many of their albums. I always felt Justin Hayward was a great songwriter and singer. A friend of mine asked me if I would consider doing this song and I recorded it and this is the result of that recording. One of the things I enjoy about the song is the stacked the BGVs in the Bridge. I think I have 16 tracks of my vocals there. In my opinion, this is a classic from the 60s.

12) Motor of Love:
Another beautiful McCartney song that to me sounds like a gospel song. I was asked by some friends if I would learn this song for a concert that I was to perform at, and so in learning it I recorded it and so I included it on this album.

13) The Hippie and the Honeybee:
This particular song was recorded as a present to a couple of our special friends Tom and Molly who were celebrating their anniversary. The writers of this song are Dean Dillon and his wife Suzie. This is one of two bonus tracks for this release on Keaggy’s Garage.

14) Without your Love:
Here is the second bonus track to this compilation of cover of love. Again, written by Ken Mansfield and Jim Weatherly. I recorded the song a number of years ago for Ken. I’ve performed this a number of times in concert and it’s just a happy sweet song and I thought it would help round out this album.
